Roy Owens is running as an independent to represent the 7th Congressional District.
Owens is the pastor of the Walthall Chapel Church of God in Christ, a Pentecostal church in Boston.
He previously sought election to the Massachusetts House of Representatives, the Boston City Council and the State Senate, but was unsuccessful.
Owens has worked as a teacher in the Boston Public Schools system and as a social worker for the Department of Public Welfare.
He has earned degrees from Roxbury Community College and the University of Massachusetts Boston. He also earned a certificate from the Gordon Seminary.
